Hemp & Denim are bringing back the good vibes of the 60s and 70s with an intoxicating blend of British rock and California pop that will remind older listeners of their glory days and introduce younger listeners to the best musical attributes of the classic rock era.
Unlike today, music in the 60s and 70s mattered. Musicians, especially rock musicians, were our heroes. They led the way in being creative artists, fashion icons and cultural commentators.
For those of us who were tuned in and turned on, rock music defined our times, breaking down barriers and uniting our hearts. It was the soundtrack of our lives. Hemp & Denim grew up in that era.
Hemp Meadows felt the revolutionary spirit of the times and became a hippie folk singer, hitchhiking from his native Kansas to San Francisco with nothing more than a backpack, his guitar and a dream to find what was left of the Summer of Love.
Denim Skye came to California via a different route. Attending private school in Washington, DC, she was summoned to Los Angeles by a band who wanted her as a singer, sent plane tickets and put up to stay at the Hollywood Studio Club, home to previous starlets like Marilyn Monroe.
Both became almost famous as an LA-based pop rock group in the late 70s and early 80s. When stardom wasn’t ultimately realized, they left the business but not each other. They married, changed careers and never looked back...until 2018.
Now, Hemp & Denim have returned to music with a renewed passion, a unique vocal sound and a set of songs written from a mature perspective that will remind you of the best times of your life yet inspire you that perhaps the best is yet to come.
In these crazy times, that’s no small gift. Hemp & Denim make music that deserves to be heard.
